Questions
The questions people ask before installing Expectancy, and the ones that otherwise turn into one-star reviews: what costs money, when the free trial charges, and whether your data goes anywhere. Is the estimate really free?
Yes, permanently. It uses every answer you give whether you pay or not, and upgrading never changes the number. Paying unlocks more of the why: the breakdown for all 15 categories instead of 4, the full diet analysis, your disease risks, and every change ranked instead of the top three.
When does the free trial start charging?
After seven days, then weekly until you cancel. The app shows the exact date under the subscribe button before you commit. Cancel before then and you pay nothing.
Can I try it for a week and cancel?
Yes, and that is a perfectly good way to use it. Your free estimate stays exactly as it was. Cancel in the App Store under Settings, your name, then Subscriptions.
Should I buy it once or subscribe?
The one-time purchase unlocks everything for good and is shared with your family. The subscription suits you if you want to try it properly first. The paywall shows roughly how many weeks it takes for the subscription to cost more than buying once.
How accurate is it?
It is a statistical estimate from population data, not a prediction about you personally, and the app always shows the range around it. The baseline is WHO life tables for 185 countries, adjusted with published studies you can read in the app. The methodology page covers the details and the known limitations.
Is this medical advice?
No. It is an estimate built from published research, not a diagnosis, and it is no substitute for your doctor.
Does my data leave my phone?
No. There is no account, no server and no tracking. Your answers and anything from Apple Health stay on the device. The only thing that ever leaves is a feedback message you choose to send.
Do I have to connect Apple Health?
No. You can type everything in. If you do connect it, Expectancy only reads, never writes, and shows you each reading before it counts.
What if I don't know an answer?
Skip it. Skipped questions are left out rather than guessed, and you can see how complete your picture is. Only your date of birth and sex at birth are required, because the life tables are built on them.
How do I delete everything?
Settings, then Erase everything. It removes your answers, history and goal from the device for good. There is no copy anywhere else to worry about.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
In the app, open Settings and tap Restore a previous purchase. Purchases follow your Apple Account. Your answers stay on the original device, so use Export if you want a copy.

Use Send feedback in Settings, the form on the support page, or email support@expectancy.app. A person reads every message.
